FLATS FISHING IN THE FLORIDA KEYS

Last week I was down in Islamorada fishing with a new Client who wanted to target Silver as he lives on the Gulf coast so Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon. We started off each day at sunrise targeting Tarpon and with a little guidance we caught two small ones on soft plastics the first daywear encountered Bonefish and Permit but it just didn't line up for us. Day 2 we had a great start landing 3 Tarpon including my Clients largest to date about 40lbs after a few hours of searching we hooked a nice Bonefish only to lose it right at the boat so close!!! Day 3 we were covered up in rain storms making their way through the keys although it was windy and cloudy the tides were good and we were able to land his first Bonefish what a feeling! Not 10mins later we got a bite and it took off peeling drag like another Bonefish but to our surprise it was a nice Permit also his first we were electric at this point but there was only one thing to do and that was get a Tarpon to complete there Grand Slam! We arrived to the spot and hooked one on the first cast only to have it jump off but hey that's fishing and what breaks rewarding next time we fish we will be on there hunt for the slam! Fishing is really good right now as us Guide call this time off year "Slam Season" If you're interested in a Keys fishing guide Give me a call at 786 517-7261 or Email me at JP2436@ymnail.com
